SHAKTI is another Hindu form of DEVI, and a personification of feminine power. In Southern India, she is also known as AMMA, which means “mother.” The rural people in this region believe that Shakti is the protector of the village, the punisher of evil, the curer of diseases, and the one who brings welfare to the village.
