Faces of the Goddess
DAPHNE, according to Greek mythology, was pursued by Apollo. His infatuation was caused by an arrow from Eros, who sought revenge on Apollo for making fun of his archery skills. Daphne sought help from the river god, Peneus, who changed her into a Laurel tree. The Laurel tree was sacred to Apollo from that moment on.
